The painting has very recently joined the collection of the Giamblanco Gallery, enriching the core of Domenico Pecchio paintings already owned by the Turin gallery (see Tomezzoli 2013). The attribution to the Veronese artist is substantiated, in fact, by comparing it with the other canvases in the Gallery, with which it shows compositional, typological affinities and the same degree of stylistic execution. The scene is brought entirely to the foreground, hinged on the two large trees, while behind the landscape recedes almost to infinity, low on the horizon and faded in bluish and silvery tones. Here the painter also reveals an already consummate lighting direction, which, leaving the large bush in the front in shadow with the function of repoussoir, captures the central passage with two sources of light: one that comes from the left and the other that lightens the background, thus determining the backlight effect of the arboreal fronds, delineated with minute brushstrokes of vivid green.
