ABRAHAM BRUEGHEL (Antwerp 1631-Naples 1697) Still life with fruit Oil on canvas, 94 x 69 cm SOLD A magnificent canvas, with persuasive execution and good state of preservation. It depicts a rich triumph of fruit piled up in the open air, in a corner of the monumental garden of a noble villa (in fact, a stone vase placed on a high plinth can be seen in the upper right) at the moment when sunset fades into evening. The painter describes the fruit (melon, pumpkin, closed and open pomegranates, figs, peaches, plums, white and black grapes and pizzutella) with meticulous and profound naturalism, supported in this sense by a very clear and analytical light that floods the foreground and enhances the 'optical' quality of each individual fruit, which becomes palpably concrete and natural to our eyes and defined in every single detail...
