Still life of flowers with silver jug
Oil on canvas 50 x 64 cm
SOLD
Painting of excellent quality and in excellent condition. It depicts a metal basin full of flowers (in particular roses of a beautiful antique pink color, anemones and red carnations, with a twig perhaps of blue hyacinths), with next to it on the right a magnificent elegantly chiseled jug that, due to its particular shine, would seem to have been made of silver. Three withered roses have slipped from the basin onto the table, while in the background on the left, a glass carafe can be glimpsed in the shadows, shining in the darkness. A clear light, coming from the left, illuminates the foreground defining the soft shapes of the flowers and embellishing the metallic surfaces of the containers with suggestive reflections.
The style and the soft and velvety quality of the material suggest the name of the great flower painter Andrea Belvedere, perhaps chronologically the last true protagonist... (See Giamblanco Catalog 2016)
