The work represents a view of Monviso from San Vito di Revigliasco on the hills of Turin and appears animated by an elegant and poetic spirit. Inspired by reality, although with a pastoral fairytale perspective specific to the artist, it was hypothetically commissioned by a family that owned a hillside "vineyard" for vacationing. The characters in the foreground do not appear to be painted randomly: the elegant couple with the child has a real basis.
The stylistic relationship with the hunting series in the squires' hall of Stupinigi, commissioned and executed... (see Giamblanco 2015 catalog) is evident.
