A painting of significant visual impact, in the classic ‘tela d’imperatore’ dimensions, which according to the Baroque definition identified canvases of approximately 90 x 130 cm. It is characterized by a rich display of precious objects resting on a table in apparent disarray (silver vases and jugs, some of which are overturned, gold works, an embroidered cushion and an elegant fabric embroidered with gold threads) on which a parrot has perched, probably a red macaw, which gives a further touch of preciousness to a whole aimed at exalting the wealth of an environment and, ultimately, of the buyer (these were exotic and, at the time, rare birds). Introducing the scene, on the left, is a beautiful brocade awning open on the left. The painter appears particularly attentive… (see Giamblanco 2016 Catalog)
