This beautiful painting depicts a terracotta vase placed on a high stone plinth from which a rich festoon of flowers descends (mainly white anemones, convolvuluses, carnations, a large red rose), next to which, on a lower plinth placed closer to the viewer to form a visual diagonal that deepens the space, there is an overturned metal tray from which white grapes (including the pizzutella variety), plums and peaches come out.
The painting represents one of the qualitative peaks of the mature production of the Turin court painter Michele Antonio Rapous: this is demonstrated by the very soft material texture, the vivacity of the color of the flowers and fruit, brightened by a vivid light that floods the foreground, the very elegant gray-pink chromatic nuances of the sky, fading into a sunset rich in cloudy vapors.
