Stefano Novo Cavarzere, 1862 - 1927) Interiors of the Udine Cathedral Oil on canvas cm 100 x 66 STEFANO NOVO Born in Cavarzere in 1862, he studied at the Academy of Venice, a pupil of Pompeo Molmenti. A quick, easy, and correct executor of genre paintings, he established himself very young with "Cuore di popolana" (Commoner's Heart), exhibited in Turin in 1884; then in the same year, he presented "Un campo a Venezia" (A Field in Venice) at the Promotrice in Florence; and in 1866, "Testa di vecchio" (Head of an Old Man); also in 1886, in Livorno, "L'approdo dei pescatori" (The Fishermen's Landing) and "In chiesa" (In Church); in Venice, in 1887: "L'ora del pranzo" (Lunchtime); "Dal fruttivendolo" (From the Greengrocer) and "La xe sana" (She is Healthy); in 1888, in Edinburgh, "Venditrice di arance" (Orange Seller), and in Bologna, "Il frutto proibito" (The Forbidden Fruit); in Chicago, in 1893: "Fruttivendola" (Female Greengrocer); "Il più cattivo di tutti" (The Worst of All) and "Venditrice di limoni" (Lemon Seller); again in Venice, in 1897, at the 2nd International Exhibition, "Primavera a Venezia" (Spring in Venice); in 1900, in Milan, "La colazione" (Breakfast); in 1902, in Turin, "Il vino" (Wine); in Saint-Louis, "La prima comunione" (First Communion). He also exhibited in Glasgow, and his works include frescoes in the churches of Casale Scodovia and Altura, in the province of Padua. From A. M.
